Pricing Guide

It's really tough to give a guide on prices as every model is built to your specifications so the same model kit could have a widely different price depending on other factors than the cost of the model itself.

I have put together this guide to try and give an idea of the cost associated with me building a model for you.

Please note that this is a guide only, and although I always attempt to honour it, I will always need to quote for your specific project before the price is fixed.

So the tables below are used to give the rough price of the finished model. Use the Price & Size Table to select the structure closest to your desired model.

The Wing Span Actual column gives the wingspan of the aircraft you're after in mm. If you divide that figure by the scale you want it will give you a helpful idea of the size of the finished model.

Then use the Build Cost Table to get an idea of the costs associated with building that model. If that all sounds a bit complicated, have a look at the examples I've done below and it should, hopefully make things clearer.

Of course, if it's easier to just Contact Me then please feel free, any time.

Examples

Please Note!

As stated below, the Build Costs Table gives the cost of me building the kit for you. It doesn't include the cost of the kit itself nor any aftermarket parts that are needed to complete the model to your desired specification.

Example 1

You'd like a Spitfire built in 1:32 scale.

  1. The Category column refers the size of the real life aircraft So, a Spitfire is a small piston engined aircraft.

  2. The Wingspan Actual column gives an actual wingspan of 11000mm or, in 1/32 a wingspan of 344mm

  3. From there, you can move across to the Pricing Table/Scale Column and simply select the letter underneath your desired scale, E in this case.

  4. Take that letter down to the Build Cost Table and match it to the same letter appearing there.

  5. So, in this example, we'd have a rough build cost of £800

Example 2

You'd like a Lancaster built in 1:48 scale.

  1. The Category column refers the size of the real life aircraft So, a Lancaster is a large piston engined aircraft.

  2. The Wingspan Actual column gives an actual wingspan of 30000mm or, in 1/48 a wingspan of 625mm

  3. From there, you can move across to the Scale Column and simply select the letter underneath your desired scale, E in this case.

  4. Take that letter down to the Build Cost Table and match it to the same letter appearing there.

  5. So, in this example, we'd have a rough build cost of £800

Diorama Costs

The costs specified here are for a basic diorama featuring a dark brown wooden frame, supporting a basic flat or subtly landscaped surface representing mud, grass, sand, tarmac, concrete, or any combination thereof.

The cost of materials and labour that goes into producing one of these bases is related to the overall size of the piece. I work to a guide that you can use to estimate the cost of your diorama:

GBP £50.00 + ([area in square centimetres] x £0.10)

So, for example:

A 30cm square diorama base for a Hurricane on grass would cost:

£50 + (900sq. cm x £0.10) which equals £190

Shipping Costs - Models
I normally ship models to the UK mainland by DHS or similar couriers who have a fair track record with fragile parcels, however particularly large models. I'll give a fixed quote with any enquiry or destinations in the Scottish Highlands and offshore UK addresses may attract an additional fee.

Shipping Costs

Shipping a diorama base to the UK of any size up to a longest side of 75cm is GBP12.00.

For international customers (or Scottish Highlands/UK Offshore) please contact me for a shipping cost as the costs involved are very variable depending on the dimensions of the piece.

For model shipment, I use next day courier services (DPD, UPS etc) for the UK who have a good record of looking after the packages well.

For international customers, I use Fedex Priority, which takes between one and three days to deliver, depending on your location (sometimes longer for AUS/NZ). The cost of this will depend entirely on the destination and the size of the package
